Sharp Note

Nicotine stained fingers
search for a fresh vein
upon cracked, calloused skin
scabbed over with wretched wounds
from a thousand tortured nights
of a twisted habit symphony
that scorches through polluted blood
while trying to find one note that doesn’t sting.

Point of No Return

She comes so sweetly in the night
with a full chalice ready to spill
into my rot gut liver of paradise.

We dance together entwined in madness
out near the border with Dionysus,
closing our eyes to the piercing light,
praying that the next sip
finally takes us one step too far.

Lockstep Thunder

Black Kevlar crisis in the making
Black boots made for stomping
Black badge serving as a shield
Black lemmings marching in lockstep

Black thunder rumbling on the streets
Black orders sent from on high
Black warhorse armed to the teeth
Black wounds to the heart of a free land
